Apple Pie Baked Brie

Ingredients:

  • (8-ounce) brie round
  • 1 Bartlett pear
  • 2 cups white wine
  • 1 tablespoon cane sugar
  • 1 Granny Smith apple
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 whole nutmeg
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Equipment:

  • Camembert baking dish
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Saucepot
  • Slotted spoon
  • Sheet pan

Directions:

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Remove cheese from wrapper and place in the Camembert Baker. Place in the oven until the top is slightly browned and the rind has begun to break and release the cheese, approximately 12-15 minutes.

Slice the apple in half, and then into thin half-moons (do not peel it.) Set aside. Peel the pear, slice it in half, and core.

In a small pot, combine the pear halves with the white wine and sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and toss in the sliced apple. After 8 minutes, use a slotted spoon to remove the pear halves and apple slices. Let cool on a sheet pan.

Once cool, slice the pear and fan it out on top of the warm brie, alternating with apple slices.

Combine the honey with freshly grated nutmeg and cinnamon. Drizzle over the fruit and brie.
