Roasted Honey Balsamic Pears
Tangy and Sweet
Simplicity is the key in this French farmhouse-inspired dessert. The pears sizzle in the oven in a pool of melted butter, and then they are drizzled with balsamic vinegar and honey partway through roasting. Another ribbon of honey, a pinch of herbs, and a dollop of creamy yogurt finish the pears off in sophisticated style.
Honey Roasted Balsamic Pears
Serving Size: 4
Cook Time: 35 minutes
Ingredients:
2 large pears, slightly under ripe
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons aged balsamic vinegar
1-1/2 tablespoons honey, plus more for drizzling
Fresh thyme leaves
1/2 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
Equipment:
Pumpkin or round casserole dish
Knife and cutting board
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Wash, halve, and core pears, leaving peels intact.
Place melted butter in a covered baking dish and arrange the pear halves in the butter, cut-side facing down. Cover the dish with the lid and place in the preheated oven in the bottom third of the oven. Roast covered for 20 minutes. Then remove the lid, flip the pear halves and drizzle with the balsamic vinegar and honey. Continue roasting uncovered for 5 minutes longer.
Remove baking dish from the oven, and drizzle each pear with additional honey, and let the pears cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh thyme, and serve warm, drizzled with the juices in the bottom of the dish and a dollop of yogurt.
